Connect your Shopify stores to sync products, orders, and markets to Cevoid, and share profile data and product ratings back to Shopify.

The Shopify integration connects your Shopify stores to your Cevoid workspace. It syncs your product catalog, orders, and markets to Cevoid, creates discount codes in your store, shares profile data back to your Shopify customers, and writes product ratings to your products.

The integration works with both separate Shopify stores and Shopify Markets, so you can localize everything your customers see through markets.

Navigate to Settings → Integrations → Shopify to manage your Shopify integration.

Connect a Shopify store

There are two ways to connect a Shopify store to your Cevoid workspace.

Install a Cevoid Shopify app

Installing one of the Cevoid Shopify apps is the recommended way to create your workspace and connect your first store. Cevoid has one app per module:

AppModule
Cevoid: Shoppable UGCUGC
Cevoid: Loyalty & RewardsLoyalty program
Cevoid: Reviews PlatformReviews
  1. Open the app on the Shopify App Store
  2. Click Install
  3. Approve the requested permissions. Cevoid's Connect Shopify to Cevoid page opens.
  4. Click Create a Cevoid account. Cevoid creates the account with your store's contact email in Shopify, and a workspace named after the store. If that email already has an account, sign in instead.

To use an existing account, click Sign in to an existing Cevoid account in step 4. Once you're signed in, select Existing workspace and the workspace, or New workspace and its name, then click Connect.

Once your workspace is set up, you can install the other Cevoid apps on the same store, and they connect automatically to the same workspace. Install the app of each module in your plan: the Reviews theme blocks, app embed, and customer account blocks, for example, come with the Reviews app.

Connect an additional store

To connect additional Shopify stores to an existing workspace:

  1. Navigate to Settings → Integrations → Shopify
  2. Click Add store
  3. Enter your Shopify store domain, for example yourstore.myshopify.com
  4. Click Connect store
  5. Approve the requested permissions in Shopify. Cevoid's Connect Shopify to Cevoid page opens.
  6. Select Existing workspace and your workspace
  7. Click Connect

From Settings → Products and markets: Click New market and select As a new storefront, then continue from step 3.

Connected stores appear in the Stores section on the Shopify integration page. Click a store to open its page, which lists its Installed apps and, under General, the Storefront password Cevoid uses to open a password-protected store. See Check a password-protected storefront.

Note:

If you connect multiple separate Shopify stores, change the Global product identifier to barcode or sku in Settings → Products and markets. This ensures products sync correctly across stores, and that a product's reviews show on every store, since product IDs differ between separate Shopify stores.

Add markets from Shopify Markets

If your Shopify store uses Shopify Markets, you can add them as markets in Cevoid.

  1. Navigate to Settings → Products and markets
  2. Click New market
  3. Select Add market to followed by the Shopify store you want to add markets from. Add shopify markets opens.
  4. Select the Shopify Markets you want to add
  5. Click Add markets
  6. Optional: Adjust each market's settings

Add market to opens Add shopify markets only when Does storefront use Shopify markets? is Yes, which you set with Edit in the ... menu on the store's card. With No, it opens a new market, as in Create a market.

If Cevoid can't read the store's Shopify Markets yet, Missing scopes opens instead: click Update access scopes and approve the access in Shopify.

For more details on market configuration, see Products and markets.

Product catalog

Your product catalog syncs from your connected Shopify stores: after a market's first sync, Cevoid syncs each store about once a day, and you can sync by hand with Sync products in Settings → Products and markets. Synced products are available for tagging UGC posts, displaying product information in widgets, and collecting product reviews, and they're listed in Products. See When products sync.

You only need to tag a product once, regardless of how many markets you have connected. The product tag automatically displays the correct price, currency, and link for each market.

Products without variants

Most brands add variants directly to products in Shopify, for example a t-shirt with size and color options. These variants automatically share UGC across the product page gallery.

Some brands set up separate products in Shopify for each variant instead. For example, the black t-shirt and white t-shirt are separate products. For these setups, set Use AI fallback to Yes in your product page gallery. When a product has few posts of its own, the gallery then fills up with posts of similar products, such as the same t-shirt in other colors. See Product page gallery fallback.

Tip:

To group separate products by a Shopify product metafield, so they share UGC as variants do, contact Cevoid support.

Orders

Cevoid syncs orders from your connected Shopify stores once Sync orders is on in Settings → Orders. New workspaces start with it off. Each store then sends new and changed orders to Cevoid as they happen, and they're listed in Orders. To turn on order sync, check that orders arrive for each store and market, enable delivery events, or import order history, see Order settings.

For the loyalty program, Purchase incentives covers which orders earn points and when they're processed. Reviews uses the same orders: a review request goes out a set time after an order is fulfilled or delivered, and orders mark reviews as Verified buyer. See Setup checklist.

Shopify customer accounts

Workspaces created from a Cevoid Shopify app start with Shopify customer accounts for authentication (Store account authentication by Shopify). Members log in to your loyalty program widgets with their existing Shopify store account, the same login they use for the rest of your store. It needs the Loyalty app, Cevoid: Loyalty & Rewards, on a store with customer accounts turned on, and resets to Email authentication by Cevoid when customer accounts are disabled. See Store account authentication by Shopify.

Shopify customer accounts work with both legacy customer accounts and new customer accounts.

AreaLegacy accountsNew accounts
Login methodEmail and passwordOne-time code sent to email
Account creationCustomers actively create an accountCustomers access profile with email

The opt-in rules Store account and Store account and program action need Shopify customer accounts for authentication: see Available opt-in rules. For other ways to log in, see Available authentication methods.

The Reviews blocks for Shopify customer accounts work only with new customer accounts. See Shopify customer accounts.

Widget localization

All Cevoid widgets automatically display in the correct language, currency, and prices based on the market.

For Shopify stores using market-specific URLs, widgets detect the market from the URL. For stores without market-specific URLs, galleries, cards, and program widgets also read the visitor's country from your Shopify store: among the markets that match the page, they use the one for that country.

Note:

You need markets configured in Cevoid for localization to work. See Products and markets for setup instructions.

Sales tracking for analytics

Sales tracking reports each completed checkout to Cevoid, so analytics can attribute orders to the posts a visitor interacted with before buying. On Shopify, Cevoid's checkout web pixel does this. You enable it for each store. The pixel comes with the UGC and Loyalty apps, so a store with only the Reviews app can't use sales tracking.

Sales tracking is set up in the Report requirements dialog. Navigate to Analytics → Reports and click Setup guide. Under Sales tracking, click Enable for each store, then click Check status. A store shows Verified once its pixel is installed. That confirms the installation, not that sales have arrived. For the full steps, see Report requirements.

Note:

At checkout, Cevoid's checkout web pixel sets the session cookie ca_session, valid for 10 years, if the visitor doesn't have one yet. What to add to your cookie policy, and how consent affects tracking, is in Session tracking and consent.

Configure profile data sharing

Share profile data from Cevoid to your Shopify customers. This lets you personalize your storefront or build customer segments in Shopify based on program membership, tier status, points balance, and more.

Profile data is configured globally and applies to all connected Shopify stores. With several stores, each profile syncs only to the store of its market: see Several Shopify stores.

Note:

Profiles only sync with a customer that exists in your store. If the profile's email isn't associated with a customer, the profile isn't synced.

Share data as metafields

Metafields store profile data as structured customer metafields in Shopify.

  1. Navigate to Settings → Integrations → Shopify
  2. Click Edit fields in the Metafields row
  3. Enable the fields you want to sync to Shopify
  4. Click Save

Share data as tags

Tags add profile data as customer tags in Shopify. Each enabled field creates a tag on the customer.

  1. Navigate to Settings → Integrations → Shopify
  2. Click Edit tags in the Tags row
  3. Enable the tags you want to sync to Shopify
  4. Click Save

For a complete list of available profile data fields, see Profile data and event sharing.

Sync existing profiles to Shopify

When you first enable profile data sharing or add new fields, existing profiles in Cevoid are not automatically synced. Use the manual sync to push existing profile data to Shopify.

  1. Navigate to Settings → Integrations → Shopify
  2. Click Sync profiles
  3. Select the Shopify store to sync with
  4. Optional: Enable Sync specific segments to limit the sync to specific profile segments
  5. Click Sync profiles

Only profiles linked to existing Shopify customers are synced.

Several Shopify stores

When you have multiple Shopify stores connected to your workspace, Cevoid routes profiles based on their market.

One Shopify store connected: Profiles sync to that store regardless of which market they belong to.

Multiple Shopify stores connected: Profiles only sync to the Shopify store linked to their market. This ensures customer data stays with the appropriate regional store.

In both cases, profiles only sync if their email matches an existing Shopify customer.

Learn more about how profiles are mapped to markets in Profile data and event sharing.

Delete a store

Deleting a Shopify store removes it and all its markets from Cevoid, and can't be undone. You can't delete your default store, or a store while it syncs products.

  1. Navigate to Settings → Products and markets
  2. Click ... on the store's card and select Delete
  3. Click Yes, delete it

Troubleshooting

What if a store's connection needs attention?

When a store's card in Settings → Products and markets shows Connection needs attention or Problem with connection, click Reconnect store and approve the requested permissions in Shopify. While a store's connection needs attention, its product updates are paused.

Why were some products skipped?

With sku or barcode as Global product identifier, a store's card can show Product sync issues. Click Review issues to see what the last sync skipped: variants with no SKU or barcode, and SKUs or barcodes that several products share (Cevoid imports one product per value). Add the missing values and make each one unique in Shopify, then click Sync products.

What happens when I change the global product identifier?

Changing Global product identifier in Settings → Products and markets converts every product identifier, which can take a while. Converting product identifiers shows until it's done. Wait for it to finish before you sync products or make other changes.
