UGC setup checklist

Set up UGC from a new workspace: connect your store and Instagram, collect and approve your first posts, and add a gallery to your store.

This checklist takes your brand from a new workspace to UGC on your store. Each step says what it does and when it's done, and links to the article with the full steps.

Create your workspace

Your workspace is your brand's account in Cevoid. Create it from the UGC app on the Shopify App Store, Cevoid: Shoppable UGC, or sign up with your store's domain: see Create your workspace.

Connect your store

Your store gives Cevoid the products you tag in posts and show in your galleries. How you connect depends on your platform.

UGC works without your orders, so order sync is optional. It lets a flow ask customers for photos or videos after a purchase, and gives Analytics your sales metrics: see Turn on order sync, or on other platforms, Send orders through the API.

Set up your markets

A market is a version of your storefront with its own domain, language, and currency. Your galleries use it to show captions, prices, and product links in the visitor's language and currency. Manage your markets in Settings → Products and markets.

  • Your first market: On Shopify and WooCommerce, Cevoid creates it from your store when you connect the store, and starts syncing its products. On other platforms, create it with your storefront's domain, then add its product feeds. See Create a market and Add a product feed.
  • More markets: Create a market for each other version of your storefront, such as another language or currency. On Shopify, you can add your Shopify Markets: see Add markets from Shopify Markets.
  • First sync: Except for your first market on Shopify and WooCommerce, a new market waits under Markets ready to sync until you start its first sync. After that, it shows Synced and syncs on its own about once a day. See Sync a new market.

Connect Instagram

Connecting your brand's Instagram account lets Cevoid find posts where customers tag or mention you. Cevoid also syncs your own feed posts to your Inbox: see Instagram feed sync.

Until you connect an account, UGC → Instagram shows Connect your Instagram, and its Connect Instagram button opens Settings → Integrations → Instagram. The account must be an Instagram business account, connected to a Meta Business page you're an admin of. See Prerequisites and Connect an Instagram account.

To also find public posts with your hashtags, see Hashtagged posts.

Upload forms and DM requests show creators your content consent policy, so they agree to your terms before you use their photos and videos. A new workspace has none published. Write and publish it in Settings → Legal: see Activate content consent. For text to start from, see Content consent policy example.

Collect UGC

Instagram posts from creators need their permission before you use them. On UGC → Instagram, get access to a post, and it moves to your Inbox:

Upload forms let customers send photos and videos straight to your brand. Cevoid creates your first one, Cevoid upload form, marked Default on UGC → Uploads. Share its link or QR code, or add an upload button to a gallery: see Share a link to your upload form and Embed an upload button in a gallery. With order sync on, a flow can also email customers an upload request after a purchase: see Ask for an upload after a purchase.

To bring over posts from another UGC platform, see Import and export UGC.

Approve posts and tag products

New posts wait in your Inbox until you approve them. Approved posts move to your Library and show in every gallery whose content they match.

  • Approve posts: Click Approve on a post in UGC → Inbox, or select several posts and approve them with a bulk action. See Approve posts.
  • Tag products: Add the products a post shows on its Products tab. Product tags make the post shoppable, and show it in the product page gallery on each tagged product's page. See Add product tags.

Galleries show your approved posts on your store. Cevoid creates three when your workspace is set up, in UGC → On-site widgets: the product page gallery, the All posts gallery, and the UGC gallery.

  • Shopify: The gallery blocks come with the UGC app, Cevoid: Shoppable UGC. In a gallery, Embed gallery → Open Shopify editor copies the Gallery ID and opens your theme editor, where you add the gallery's Cevoid block.
  • Other platforms: Paste the gallery's div code where the gallery goes, on a page with Cevoid's gallery script: see Add the gallery script

For the steps, see Embed galleries on your website. To change a gallery's layout and style, see Gallery design.

A gallery's card on UGC → On-site widgets shows Live when the gallery loaded on a page of your website in the last 10 days. Until the product page gallery first loads, its card shows Most popular. A post you approve can take up to 3 hours to show in a gallery on your website.

Invite your team

Only admins can invite people to your workspace, and the person who created it is its first admin. To give your colleagues access, see Invite people.
