Review questions

Ask product, company, and profile questions on your review forms, and choose who sees the answers.

Review questions ask reviewers for structured answers alongside their review: how a product fits, how delivery went, or their own height or skin type. Answers show on reviews and in summaries on your store. Answers about the reviewer are also saved to their profile.

Navigate to Settings → Reviews → Product questions or Settings → Reviews → Company questions to manage your review questions.

How review questions work

Review questions belong to one of the two review forms. Product questions are asked on the product review form, and company questions on the company review form. Each question has a type:

Question typeAsked onWhat it asks aboutAnswer formats
Product attributeThe product review form, for the products you chooseThe product, such as fit, quality, or comfortScale, centered range, would recommend, or choice
Company attributeThe company review formYour store, such as delivery, customer service, or packagingScale, centered range, would recommend, or choice
Profile propertyEither formThe reviewer, such as height or skin type. The answer is saved to a profile propertyTaken from the property: choice or numeric

Every question is optional for the reviewer. On the product review form, questions about the product and questions about the reviewer are separate steps. The company review form asks all its questions on one step. A step only shows while it has a question to ask: see Review forms.

Create a review question

Create a question from scratch, or start from a template and change it. Each template can be used once.

  1. Navigate to Settings → Reviews → Product questions or Settings → Reviews → Company questions
  2. Click New question
  3. Optional: Select a question under Start from template
  4. Select the Question type
  5. Enter the question in Display name, such as Fit
  6. Select a Format under Answer format and add its labels or options. For a profile property question, select the Profile property instead.
  7. Select All products or Some products under Product assignment (product questions only). See Choose the products a question is asked for.
  8. Click Create question

Answer formats

The answer format decides how reviewers answer a question and how answers are summed up on your store.

FormatWhat the reviewer doesSettings
ScalePicks one of 5 stepsStart label and End label, such as "Poor" and "Excellent"
Centered rangePicks one of 5 steps on a range with a center, such as "Runs small", "True to size", and "Runs large"Start label, Center label, and End label, shown under the range. Optional labels for the steps between show only when picked
Would recommendAnswers yes or noNone. Your store shows it as a recommendation question
ChoicePicks one option with Single select, or several with Multi selectOptions. For Multi select, a Selection limit: Unlimited, Exact number, or Range
NumericEnters a numberProfile property questions only, for a number, height, weight, or length property. The property sets the range and unit

A reviewer who starts a multi select answer must pick at least the minimum before they can continue. Leaving it empty is fine.

Choose the products a question is asked for

A product question is asked for all products, or only for products that match at least one condition. A question you create from scratch starts with no products, so choose before you save. Questions from a template start on All products.

  1. Navigate to Settings → Reviews → Product questions and open the question
  2. Select Some products under Product assignment
  3. Under New condition, select Product, Collection, Category, or Brand, and pick one
  4. Click Add. The condition appears under Conditions, with the number of products it covers.
  5. Optional: Add more conditions
  6. Click Save changes

A category condition includes the category's subcategories. The product review form for a product asks every question set to all products, plus every question whose conditions the product matches.

Note:

Product questions shows a Keep forms short warning when products have 5 or more active questions. Company questions shows one when the company review form asks 5 or more. Narrow a question's products, or archive questions you no longer use.

Change the order of review questions

Review questions are asked in the order of their list, on both review forms.

  1. Navigate to Settings → Reviews → Product questions or Settings → Reviews → Company questions
  2. Select the Active tab
  3. Drag a question by its handle, up or down the list. The new order saves right away.

Archive, restore, or delete a review question

What you can do with a review question depends on whether it has answers. The Answers column shows how many it has.

Where answers show

Answers to public questions show to shoppers. Answers to private questions show only to your team, on the review.

Send profile answers to your integrations

Profile property answers are saved to the reviewer's profile when they submit their review, replacing any earlier value. They then sync like any other profile property: to Klaviyo, Voyado, and Shopify, for each integration you turned on for that property.

A reviewer's review counts and ratings aren't part of the profile data your integrations receive.

Localization

Cevoid translates your question names, labels, and options into your market languages when you save. Adjust them in Settings → Translations, under Review questions. See Translations.

Customer experience

Reviewers answer your questions near the end of the review form, before the summary step. On the product review form, questions about the product come first, then questions about the reviewer under About you. A reviewer can skip any question.

When Cevoid already knows the reviewer, such as from a review request, the product review form skips profile questions whose property already has a value on their profile, such as from an earlier review. That value stays on their profile.
