# Review emails

> Edit the request, reminder, thank-you, reply, and verification code emails your customers get from Reviews, and see what each one says by default.

Cevoid sends your customers nine kinds of email from Reviews: review requests and reminders, thank-you emails, reply notifications, and the code that confirms a reviewer's email. Each comes from a template you edit, with translations per language. Your flows decide when each email goes out.

Navigate to [Settings → Emails (new) → Email templates](https://app.cevoid.com/settings/email-templates) to edit your review emails.

## Emails customers get from Reviews

Every workspace has one template of each type, under _Reviews_ in [Settings → Emails (new) → Email templates](https://app.cevoid.com/settings/email-templates). Its _Usage_ column shows how many flows use each template, or _Always on_.

Requests and reminders go out through your [review request](https://docs.cevoid.com/reviews/collect/review-requests.md) flows. Reply emails need a live reply flow: see [Set up reply emails](https://docs.cevoid.com/reviews/manage/replies.md#set-up-reply-emails).

## Send thank-you emails

A thank-you email goes to every customer who submits a review, with an _Edit your review_ button. It goes out only through a live thank-you flow, one for product reviews and one for company reviews.

1. Navigate to [Settings → Flows](https://app.cevoid.com/settings/flows)
2. Under _Suggested flows_, click **Thank you: Product review** or **Thank you: Company review**
3. Click **Add flow**. The flow opens in the editor as a draft.
4. Click **Publish flow**

Thank-you emails go out when the review is submitted, before your hold rules or your team decide on it. Don't write in them that the review is already published. Imported reviews get no thank-you email. Each thank-you email shows in [Outbox](https://docs.cevoid.com/flows/outbox.md), not in Requests.

## Edit your review emails

Review emails are [email templates](https://docs.cevoid.com/emails/email-templates.md), so you edit, test, and manage them the way you do every email Cevoid sends:

- **Edit a template:** Open it under _Reviews_ in [Settings → Emails (new) → Email templates](https://app.cevoid.com/settings/email-templates) and change its fields. See [Edit a template](https://docs.cevoid.com/emails/email-templates.md#edit-a-template).
- **Send a test email:** Send the saved template to any address, with example data. See [Send a test email](https://docs.cevoid.com/emails/email-templates.md#send-a-test-email).
- **Create a template:** Add another template of a type when one flow needs different copy, such as a request for one market. See [Create a template](https://docs.cevoid.com/emails/email-templates.md#create-a-template).
- **Manage your templates:** Rename, duplicate, reset, or delete a template. See [Manage your templates](https://docs.cevoid.com/emails/email-templates.md#manage-your-templates).
- **Sender settings:** Who your emails come from, where customers' answers go, and sending from your own domain apply to every email your workspace sends. See [Email settings](https://docs.cevoid.com/emails/email-settings.md).
- **Colors, fonts, and logo:** Every email your workspace sends takes them from your BrandKit. See [Emails](https://docs.cevoid.com/brandkit.md#emails).

## Fields and default copy

Every template has _Subject and preview_, with _Subject line_ and _Preview text_, the snippet shown after the subject in an unopened email. Most also have _Intro_, with _Heading_ and _Intro text_, and an _Outro_ that's empty by default. _Subject line_ and _Preview text_ take up to 150 characters, _Heading_ up to 120, and a _Button label_ up to 40, with no variables.

### Product review request and reminder

The product review request lists every product the customer can still review, each with its own link, above a button to review the whole order.

### Thank-you emails

### Reply notifications

Your reply goes where `{{data.reply.body}}` is, so the reply field must keep it: Cevoid doesn't save a reply template without it. _View your review_ opens the review on your store.

### Identity verification code

The code shows in a block of its own, and is valid for 10 minutes.

## Variables

Each review email accepts the variables of its type under _This email_, in the editor's **Variables**. For how variables work, and the _Recipient_ and _Workspace_ variables every email has, see [Variables](https://docs.cevoid.com/emails/email-templates.md#variables).

## Languages

Each email goes out in the language of the market the customer was last active in. When there's none, thank-you and reply emails use the language of the review, and the other emails use your workspace's primary language. The _Identity verification code_ email uses the language of the market the customer is reviewing on.

## Marketing and transactional emails

Request and reminder emails are marketing emails. Cevoid sends them only to customers who have agreed to marketing email, and their footer has a _Manage email preferences_ link. Thank-you, reply, and verification code emails are transactional: they answer something the customer did, go out without marketing consent, and have no preferences link.

_Manage email preferences_ opens a page where the customer can turn off _Promotion emails_, or choose _Unsubscribe from all_. With _Promotion emails_ off, Cevoid sends the customer no more review requests.

Every email's footer also says _This email was sent by Cevoid on behalf of_ your brand, unless it's sent from your own domain, and shows your physical address.

## Customer experience

- **Request emails:** Tapping a star opens the review form on your store with that rating chosen, and _Review order_ opens the form at the first product not yet reviewed. Nothing is saved until the customer submits the review.
- **When links expire:** after 90 days, a request link still opens the form, but asks for an email code first. See [Verified reviews](https://docs.cevoid.com/reviews/collect/verified-reviews.md#how-cevoid-confirms-who-wrote-a-review).
- **Thank-you and reply emails:** _Edit your review_ opens the review for the customer to update or delete it, and _View your review_ opens it on your store
