# Activities overview

> Learn what activities are, the different types, and how to manage them.

Activities are how members engage with your rewards program beyond making purchases. They let you reward members for actions like following your social accounts, sharing content, providing feedback, or participating in campaigns.

## Activity types

There are two types of activities: single-task activities and challenges.

| Type            | Description                                                                                                                                                                                                         | Best for                                                                          |
| --------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Single-task** | One action, one reward. Members complete a single task and earn their reward immediately. Certain tasks can collect member preferences that get stored on their profile.                                            | Ongoing engagement like social follows, preference collection, newsletter signups |
| **Challenge**   | Multiple tasks, flexible rewards. Members complete a series of steps, with options to reward participants and winners differently. Certain tasks can collect profile properties that get stored on member profiles. | UGC campaigns, competitions, seasonal promotions, multi-step feedback collection  |

Single-task activities are always available to members (unless paused or ended). Challenges can run for a set period with start and end dates.

## Available tasks

Both activity types use tasks as building blocks. Tasks define what members need to do, from answering questions to uploading content to following social accounts.

## Activities page

The Activities page gives you an overview of all your activities and their performance.

### Metrics

At the top of the page, summary metrics are displayed:

| Metric                     | Description                                  |
| -------------------------- | -------------------------------------------- |
| **Live single-tasks**      | Number of active single-task activities      |
| **Live challenges**        | Number of active challenges                  |
| **Participants**           | Total members who started an activity        |
| **Submissions**            | Total completed submissions                  |
| **Submissions per member** | Average submissions per participating member |

### Activity list

The table shows all your activities with key information:

| Column           | Description                              |
| ---------------- | ---------------------------------------- |
| **Name**         | Activity name and icon                   |
| **Status**       | Live, Paused, Draft, or Ended            |
| **Type**         | Single-task or Challenge                 |
| **Participants** | Number of members who started            |
| **Submissions**  | Number of completed submissions          |
| **Start date**   | When the activity became available       |
| **End date**     | When the activity ends (challenges only) |

Use the tabs to filter by status: **All**, **Live**, **Paused**, **Drafts**, or **Ended**. Search by name or apply additional filters to narrow results.

### Viewing submissions

Click any activity to see its submissions. Click a submission to view the details provided by the member.

### Creating activities

Click **New activity** in the top right corner to create a new activity. Choose between a single-task activity or a challenge, then configure the tasks and rewards.
