# Activities overview

> Learn what activities are, the different types, and how to manage them.

Activities are how members engage with your loyalty program beyond making purchases. They let you reward members for actions such as following your social accounts, sharing content, providing feedback, or participating in campaigns.

## Activity types

There are two types of activities: single-task activities and challenges.

| Type | Description | Best for |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Single-task** | One action, one reward. Members complete a single task and earn their reward immediately. Certain tasks can collect profile properties that get stored on member profiles. | Ongoing engagement, such as social follows, preference collection, and newsletter signups |
| **Challenge** | Multiple tasks, flexible rewards. Members complete a series of steps, with options to reward participants and winners differently. Certain tasks can collect profile properties that get stored on member profiles. | UGC campaigns, competitions, seasonal promotions, and multi-step feedback collection |

Both types have a start date and an optional end date. An activity without an end date stays available until you pause or end it.

## Available tasks

Single-task activities and challenges both use tasks as building blocks. Tasks define what members need to do, from answering questions to uploading content to following social accounts.

## Activities page

The Activities page gives you an overview of all your activities and their performance.

### Metrics

Summary metrics appear at the top of the Activities page:

| Metric | Description |
| --- | --- |
| **Live single-tasks** | Active single-task activities |
| **Live challenges** | Active challenge activities |
| **Participants** | Members who participated in activities, with the number of new participants in the last 30 days |
| **Submissions** | All activity submissions |
| **Submissions per member** | Average submissions per member |

The live counts leave out scheduled activities: activities that are live but whose start date hasn't come yet.

### Activity list

The activities table shows all your activities with key information:

| Column | Description |
| --- | --- |
| **Name** | Activity name and icon |
| **Status** | Live, Paused, Draft, or Ended |
| **Type** | Single-task or Challenge |
| **Participants** | Number of members who started |
| **Submissions** | Number of submissions, with a badge for submissions that have tasks waiting for verification |
| **Start date** | When the activity became available |
| **End date** | When the activity ends |

Activities whose discount code rewards are running low show a badge with the number of codes left, or "No codes left". A Klaviyo newsletter subscription activity with no list set for some Klaviyo accounts shows a warning that it's hidden in those markets.

Use the tabs to filter by status: **All**, **Live**, **Paused**, **Drafts**, or **Ended**. The table opens on **All** when you have drafts, otherwise on **Live**. Search by name or apply additional filters to narrow results.

### Create an activity

Click **New activity** in the top right corner to create a new activity. Select a single-task activity or a challenge, then configure the tasks and rewards. Cevoid creates the activity as a draft.

When you click **Set live** on a draft, _Publish activity?_ opens: click **Save and publish** to save your changes and set the activity live. If your plan doesn't include the Loyalty program, **Set live** opens the checkout instead.

## Who can participate

Every activity has a participants setting that decides who sees it and who can take part. [Redeemable rewards](https://docs.cevoid.com/loyalty/rewards/redeemable-rewards.md) use the same options. The default is **Anyone**.

| Option | Who can participate |
| --- | --- |
| **Anyone** | Every visitor, signed in or not |
| **Only program members** | Any signed-in member of your program |
| **Selected segments** | Signed-in members in at least one of the segments you select |
| **Members of tier(s)** | Signed-in members whose tier is one of the tiers you select |
| **Selected profiles** | Only the profiles you select |

Every option except **Anyone** needs the visitor to be signed in as a member. Members who don't match an activity's participants setting don't see it. In a challenge open to **Anyone**, visitors who aren't logged in see **Login to start** when your program uses Shopify or custom login. With Cevoid's email login, they can start without signing in.

Single-task activities are always completed by signed-in members: visitors who aren't signed in see a button to sign in or join.

## Submissions

A submission is what a member sends in when they take part in an activity. Single-task activities and challenges list their submissions the same way.

### View submissions

1. Navigate to [Loyalty → Activities](https://app.cevoid.com/program/activities)
2. Open the activity. Its submissions are listed on the activity's page, on the **Submissions** tab for a challenge.
3. Open a submission to view the details provided by the member

The submissions table has the columns _Member_, _Status_, _Tasks_ (challenges only: completed tasks out of the total), _Submission_, _Started at_, and _Submitted at_, newest first. A submission from a member on the [waitlist](https://docs.cevoid.com/loyalty/setup/general-program-settings.md#waitlist) stays hidden until you approve the member.

| Status | Description |
| --- | --- |
| _Draft_ | The member started but hasn't sent it in yet |
| _Submitted_ | The member sent it in, and at least one task is still waiting for verification |
| _Completed_ | Every task is verified |

Members can resume a draft for 30 days. Drafts not updated for 30 days are deleted, and a challenge's drafts are deleted when the challenge ends.

### Submission actions

Open the menu on a submission's row:

| Action | Description |
| --- | --- |
| **Mark as completed** | Sets a _Submitted_ submission to _Completed_ |
| **Copy submission link** | Copies a link to the submission |
| **Favorite** | Marks the submission as a favorite. Favorites are listed first when you pick challenge winners |
| **Send content to inbox** | Sends the submission's photos and videos to your UGC Inbox |
| **Delete** | Deletes the submission and all of its content |

### Add uploaded content to UGC

Photos and videos from upload and Instagram tasks can be added as posts to your UGC [Library or Inbox](https://docs.cevoid.com/ugc/manage/library-and-inbox.md). The task must be verified first.

1. Navigate to [Loyalty → Activities](https://app.cevoid.com/program/activities)
2. Open the activity, then open the submission
3. Select the posts in the task
4. Click **Add N posts to** and select **Library** or **Inbox**. The posts get the _Added as post_ badge.

### Export submissions to CSV

1. Navigate to [Loyalty → Activities](https://app.cevoid.com/program/activities)
2. Open the activity
3. Click **More** and select **CSV exports**
4. Click **Export submissions to CSV**. The button shows "Export running" until the export is done.
5. Click **Download** on the export

_CSV exports_ lists every export for the activity with _Requested_, _Requested by_, _Status_, _Finished_, and _Expires in_. An export can be downloaded for 7 days after it finishes.
