UGC analytics covers everything you can measure about your user-generated content: the posts in your library, how visitors interact with them in galleries, cards, and the post popup, Instagram content and rights requests, upload forms, the creators behind your content, and the orders your content leads to.

In the report builder, these metrics are under **UGC**, **Widgets**, and **Sales**. How to read these tables, and how breakdowns and filters work, is in [How metrics work](https://docs.cevoid.com/analytics/metrics.md#how-to-read-the-metric-tables). Every metric can also be broken down by _Date_.

## Start with the defaults

- **The _UGC Overview_ dashboard** is favorited for everyone on your team. It shows your post totals, post performance, conversions over time, content sources, performance by widget, and your top posts. See [Dashboards](https://docs.cevoid.com/analytics/reporting/dashboards.md).
- **58 default UGC reports:** 33 on posts and post performance, 4 on widgets, 18 on orders linked to content, and 3 on upload forms. See [Reports](https://docs.cevoid.com/analytics/reporting/reports.md#default-reports).
- **Four funnels:** see [Funnel reports](https://docs.cevoid.com/analytics/reporting/funnels.md)

| Funnel | Steps |
| --- | --- |
| Post interaction funnel | _Post impressions_, _Post popup impressions_, _Post clicks_, _Post product tag clicks_, _Orders_ |
| Instagram post lifecycle funnel | _Instagram posts detected_, _Instagram posts accessed_ |
| Instagram request funnel | _Instagram requests sent_, _Instagram requests declined_, _Instagram posts accessed_ |
| Customer uploads funnel | _Upload form impressions_, _Uploads started_, _Uploads completed_ |

## What UGC analytics needs

Most UGC metrics work as soon as your widgets are live. Some need setup first: see [Report requirements](https://docs.cevoid.com/analytics/setup/report-requirements.md).

| Setup | What it unlocks |
| --- | --- |
| Session tracking | _Post reach_ and _Post clappers_, and linking orders to your content |
| Sales tracking | Orders, order value, and customers linked to your content |
| A connected Instagram account | The Instagram UGC metrics and breakdowns |
| Brands, collections, and categories in your product catalog | The _Product brand_, _Product collection_, and _Product category_ breakdowns |

## Posts

How many posts you have and how that changes. Posts count in every status: Inbox, Approved, and Archived.

| Metric | What it measures | Unit | Counts | Needs |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| _Post movements_ | Net change in number of posts | Count | In the period | |
| _Total posts_ | Total number of posts in the workspace | Count | Running total | |
| _Percentage of posts_ | Share of total posts that match selected dimension values | Percentage | Calculated | |

_Post movements_ can be negative, so area charts, stacked bars, and donuts aren't available for it. Status changes, such as approving a post, aren't movements.

### Breakdowns and filters for posts

| Breakdown | What it shows | Values | Available for |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| _Post_ | Individual post | Your own items | All |
| _Post label_ | Post label assigned by the brand team | Your own items | All except _Post movements_ |
| _Content source_ | Platform or source where the content originated from | Instagram UGC, Instagram Feed, TikTok Feed, Upload Forms, In-house Upload | All |
| _Content type_ | Format of the content (image or video) | Image, Video | All |
| _Post status_ | Status of the post in the moderation flow at the time of measurement | Inbox, Approved, Archived | All except _Post movements_ |
| _Is UGC_ | Whether the post is organic UGC or in-house content | No, Yes | All |
| _Post movement type_ | Type of post movement (added, removed) | Added, Removed | _Post movements_ |
| _Has product tags_ | Whether the post has at least one product tag | No, Yes | All except _Post movements_ |
| _Product_ | Individual product | Your own items | All except _Post movements_ |
| _Product category_ | Product category from the product catalog | Your own items | All except _Post movements_ |
| _Product variant_ | Individual product variant (size, color, etc.) | Your own items | All except _Post movements_ |
| _Product collection_ | Product collection from the product catalog | Your own items | All except _Post movements_ |
| _Product brand_ | Brand of the product (from the product catalog) | Your own items | All except _Post movements_ |
| _Profile_ | The creator of the post | Your own items | All |
| _Segment_ | Segments the creator belongs to | Your own items | All except _Post movements_ |
| _Profile label_ | Profile labels of the creator | Your own items | All except _Post movements_ |

A post with several labels or tagged products counts once under each, so those rows can add up to more than the total.

## Post performance

How visitors interact with posts in your galleries, cards, and the post detail popup. These are the metrics most UGC reports are built on.

| Metric | What it measures | Unit | Counts | Needs |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| _Post impressions_ | Number of times a post was viewed | Count | In the period | |
| _Post popup impressions_ | Number of times the post detail popup was viewed | Count | In the period | |
| _Post clicks_ | Number of times a post was clicked, opening the post detail popup or linking directly to a product | Count | In the period | |
| _Post product tag clicks_ | Number of clicks on product tags within a post | Count | In the period | |
| _Post reach_ | Number of unique visitors who viewed the post | Count | In the period | Session tracking |
| _Post claps_ | Total claps (likes) received on posts | Count | In the period | |
| _Post clappers_ | Number of unique visitors who clapped on the post | Count | In the period | Session tracking |

An impression counts every view, so one visitor scrolling past a post three times counts three. Reach counts unique visitors, as unique sessions, and needs session tracking for _Post reach_.

### Breakdowns and filters for post performance

| Breakdown | What it shows | Values | Available for |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| _Post_ | Individual post | Your own items | All |
| _Post label_ | Post label assigned by the brand team | Your own items | All |
| _Content source_ | Platform or source where the content originated from | Instagram UGC, Instagram Feed, TikTok Feed, Upload Forms, In-house Upload | All |
| _Content type_ | Format of the content (image or video) | Image, Video | All |
| _Post status_ | Status of the post in the moderation flow at the time of measurement | Inbox, Approved, Archived | All |
| _Is UGC_ | Whether the post is organic UGC or in-house content | No, Yes | All |
| _Has product tags_ | Whether the post has at least one product tag | No, Yes | All |
| _Product_ | Individual product | Your own items | All |
| _Product category_ | Product category from the product catalog | Your own items | All |
| _Product variant_ | Individual product variant (size, color, etc.) | Your own items | All |
| _Product collection_ | Product collection from the product catalog | Your own items | All |
| _Product brand_ | Brand of the product (from the product catalog) | Your own items | All |
| _Display solution_ | Type of widget or interaction interface | Gallery, Card, Program, API | All |
| _Widget_ | The name of a specific widget | Your own items | All |

| _Segment_ | Segments the creator belongs to | Your own items | All |
| _Profile label_ | Profile labels of the creator | Your own items | All |
| _Profile market_ | The market of the creator's profile | Your own items | All |

## Galleries and cards

How often your widgets load and how often visitors see them. These widget metrics cover loyalty program widgets too: filter _Module_ to **UGC** to see only galleries and cards.

| Metric | What it measures | Unit | Counts | Needs |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| _Widget loads_ | Number of times a widget was loaded | Count | In the period | |
| _Widget reach_ | Number of unique visitors who viewed the widget | Count | In the period | |
| _Widget display rate_ | Percentage of visitors who viewed the widget after it loaded | Percentage | Calculated | |
| _Widget impressions_ | Number of times a widget was viewed | Count | In the period | |

A widget loads when its content loads on a page, and it's viewed when any part of it is on screen. A gallery further down a page that's never scrolled to counts a load but no impression.

### Breakdowns and filters for widgets

| Breakdown | What it shows | Values | Available for |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| _Display solution_ | Type of widget or interaction interface | Gallery, Card, Program, API | All |
| _Widget_ | The name of a specific widget | Your own items | All |
| _Module_ | Which Cevoid module the metric or event belongs to | UGC, Loyalty | All |
| _Market_ | Storefront market the visitor was browsing when the event occurred | Your own items | All |
| _Is trackable_ | Whether the visitor can be attributed to events (depends on tracking consent / cookies) | Yes, No | All |
| _Profile_ | The visitor, when Cevoid knows who they are, such as a logged-in member | Your own items | All |
| _Segment_ | Segments the visitor belongs to | Your own items | All |
| _Profile label_ | Profile labels of the visitor | Your own items | All |
| _Profile market_ | The market of the visitor's profile | Your own items | All |
| _Tier_ | The loyalty tier the member belongs to (interpreted at the relevant moment for the metric: snapshot time for state metrics, event time for event metrics) | Your own items | All |
| _Membership status_ | The visitor membership state at the time of the event | Member, Non-member | All |

## Orders from your content

_Orders_, _Order value_, _Average order value_, and _Customers_ count the orders your content leads to when you break them down or filter them by _Post_ or _Post label_, or filter them by _UGC conversion types_ or _Is UGC-attributed_. They then count only orders from sales tracking whose session touched your content before the sale. See [Attribution](https://docs.cevoid.com/analytics/how-it-works/attribution.md) for the full rules.

| Metric | What it measures | Unit | Counts | Needs |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| _Orders_ | Number of orders: from synced order data where available, otherwise from frontend-attributed order events. | Count | In the period | Order data |
| _Order value_ | Total order value at checkout. Not adjusted for shipping, order status, returns, or refunds. | Currency | In the period | Order data |
| _Average order value_ | Average value of an order | Currency | Calculated | Order data |
| _Customers_ | Number of unique customers who placed an order | Count | In the period | Order data |

- **Every touched post gets the whole order.** An order that touched three posts counts under each of them, with its full value, so rows add up to more than the total.
- **Conversion types:** an order counts under every way the visitor interacted before buying: **Post impression**, **Popup view**, or **Product tag click**
- **Profiles:** on these orders, _Profile_, _Segment_, and the other profile breakdowns describe the creator of the touched post

You can add post performance metrics, such as _Post impressions_, to the same report, which is how the default conversion reports compare views with orders. Orders linked to content offer only these breakdowns:

| Breakdown | What it shows | Values | Available for |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| _Post_ | Individual post | Your own items | All |
| _Post label_ | Post label assigned by the brand team | Your own items | All |
| _Market_ | Storefront market the visitor was browsing when the event occurred | Your own items | All |
| _Profile_ | The creator of the post | Your own items | All |
| _Segment_ | Segments the creator belongs to | Your own items | All |
| _Profile label_ | Profile labels of the creator | Your own items | All |
| _Profile market_ | The market of the creator's profile | Your own items | All |
| _Tier_ | The loyalty tier the member belongs to (interpreted at the relevant moment for the metric: snapshot time for state metrics, event time for event metrics) | Your own items | All |
| _Currency_ | The original currency of the order (before conversion to workspace currency) | Your own items | All |
| _Is UGC-attributed_ | Whether the order had at least one UGC conversion event (post impression, popup view, or product tag click) | No, Yes | All |
| _UGC conversion types_ | UGC conversion events linked to the order. An order can have multiple values when it had several touchpoints; orders with no UGC attribution are left empty (not set). | Post impression, Popup view, Product tag click | All |

## Instagram UGC

How Instagram content is detected and accessed, and how rights requests progress. These metrics need a connected [Instagram account](https://docs.cevoid.com/integrations/social/instagram.md).

| Metric | What it measures | Unit | Counts | Needs |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| _Instagram posts detected_ | Number of Instagram posts detected from connected accounts | Count | In the period | Instagram account |

| _Instagram posts removed_ | Number of Instagram posts manually removed by the brand | Count | In the period | Instagram account |
| _Instagram requests sent_ | Number of rights requests sent for Instagram posts | Count | In the period | Instagram account |
| _Instagram requests declined_ | Number of rights requests declined by creators | Count | In the period | Instagram account |
| _Instagram request approval rate_ | Percentage of rights requests that creators approved | Percentage | Calculated | Instagram account |
| _Instagram request approval time_ | Average time it took for creators to approve a request | Hours | In the period | Instagram account |

### Breakdowns and filters for Instagram UGC

| Breakdown | What it shows | Values | Available for |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| _Instagram account_ | The connected Instagram account that detected the post or sent the request | Your own items | All |
| _Instagram source type_ | How the Instagram post was detected | Tagged, Hashtagged, Mentioned | All |
| _Instagram post type_ | Instagram post format (image, video, carousel) | Image, Video, Carousel | All |

| _Segment_ | Segments the author belongs to | Your own items | All |
| _Profile label_ | Profile labels of the author | Your own items | All |

## Upload forms

How visitors use your [upload forms](https://docs.cevoid.com/ugc/collect/upload-forms.md), from seeing a form to a completed upload.

| Metric | What it measures | Unit | Counts | Needs |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| _Upload form reach_ | Number of unique visitors who viewed the upload form | Count | In the period | |

| _Uploads started_ | Number of times a customer began uploading content via the upload form | Count | In the period | |
| _Uploads completed_ | Number of uploads completed by the customer (after email verification, post lands in Inbox) | Count | In the period | |
| _Upload completion rate_ | Percentage of started uploads that were completed | Percentage | Calculated | |
| _Uploads_ | Number of uploads | Count | In the period | |
| _Uploaders_ | Number of unique profiles who submitted an upload | Count | In the period | |
| _Uploaders (lifetime)_ | Number of unique profiles who have ever submitted an upload, cumulative through end of period | Count | Lifetime, unique | |
| _Uploads (lifetime)_ | Number of completed upload submissions in the workspace, cumulative through end of period | Count | Running total | |
| _Posts uploaded (lifetime)_ | Number of posts created from uploads in the workspace, cumulative through end of period (one upload submission can produce up to 5 posts) | Count | Running total | |

An upload counts as completed after the uploader verifies their email, when the post lands in your Inbox. One upload can create up to 5 posts.

### Breakdowns and filters for upload forms

| Breakdown | What it shows | Values | Available for |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| _Form_ | Specific upload form | Your own items | All |
| _Upload interface_ | How the upload form was presented to the customer | Gallery, Page | All |
| _Market_ | Storefront market the visitor was browsing when the event occurred | Your own items | All except _Uploads_, _Uploaders_, _Uploaders (lifetime)_, _Uploads (lifetime)_, _Posts uploaded (lifetime)_ |
| _Is trackable_ | Whether the visitor can be attributed to events (depends on tracking consent / cookies) | Yes, No | All except _Uploads_, _Uploaders_, _Uploaders (lifetime)_, _Uploads (lifetime)_, _Posts uploaded (lifetime)_ |
| _Profile_ | The uploader | Your own items | All |
| _Segment_ | Segments the uploader belongs to | Your own items | All |
| _Profile label_ | Profile labels of the uploader | Your own items | All |

## Creators

Your creators are the profiles behind your posts. On UGC metrics, the profile breakdowns describe them: _Profile_, _Segment_, _Profile label_, and _Profile market_ show the creator of the post, the author of an Instagram post, or the uploader.

| To see | Build a report with |
| --- | --- |
| Who creates the most content | _Total posts_ by _Profile_. The default report is _Total Posts by Profile_ |
| Whose content visitors engage with most | _Post impressions_ or _Post clicks_ by _Profile_. The default report is _Post Performance by Profile_ |
| Whose content leads to orders | _Orders_ or _Order value_ by _Profile_. The default report is _Impression Conversions by Profile_ |
| How a group of creators performs | Any of the above by _Segment_ or _Profile label_ |
| Who uploads the most | _Uploads_ or _Uploaders_ by _Profile_ |

Each creator's profile also has an **Analytics** tab with their own posts and performance: see [Profiles](https://docs.cevoid.com/profiles.md).
